  1. AVH-2330NEX album art

I have a AVH-2330NEX connected with a maestro rr to my 2012 f150 I have an iPhone 7 and iOS 11 if I choose the input of iPod with my phone connected via Bluetooth, the artwork is initially displayed. If you advance one song the artwork shows as missing. When you go to the next song, the artwork displays for the previous song. If you go forward again, the artwork continues being one behind. This happens on more than one app. Thoughts as to why? Is this some glitch? If I am connected via CarPlay, the artwork also seems to get behind...
  2. The short -> Great Unit Marred by a Substandard File Browser When loading a Fresh Media card, SD or USD (Only change the USB when the car is powered down), you MUST wait for the entire collection to read before powering down the head-unit. A fresh card refers to not only the first insertion, but also if you remove the card to add new music. IF you power down the head unit before this, you will need to factory reset the unit …. for it to again read past 90% on larger music collections and a tendency to freeze playback on some powerups requiring a restart of the vehicle. The file browser will quickly load to show all the artists you have, greyed out. You will NOT be able to select these artists for play until the ID3v2.3 tags have been read in and the selection becomes white. You must use ID3v2.3 tags and REMOVE all other tags. While we are at it, you should ONLY have music files (mp3, flac, etc) in your folders. JPG, DB, INI, etc files will cause SIGNIFICANTLY longer initial load times. 99 GB worth of MP3s (about 400 artists worth) takes nearly an hour to load once clean. Each repower takes about 5 minutes to re-read the SD card, assuming the card has NOT been removed. It takes about 15 seconds to resume playing. Fully load your SD source before shutting down the car to load your USB1 source. Sadly, when you click on the file explorer it takes you to the top of the folder. This means if you are on Artist Queen and you want to play Queensryche you will need to scroll down from your ‘A’ artists. The file list is not in perfect Alphabetical order. For example, Amanda Palmer is listed after Element 101 but before Ellie Goulding. The Long ->The Story of how use SD/USB stored Music & Album Art I use the Pioneer AVH4200-NEX unit to play primarily from 2 sources -> a USB thumbdrive in the top slot that contains up to 3 audiobooks at a time (frequently updated) and a SD card that contains my entire music collection (seldom updated). Both drives are formatted as NTFS - SanDisk Ultra 200GB Class 10 Micro SDXC & SanDisk Ultra Fit 64GB USB 3.0. The SD card stores the music in the following structure: Category/Artist/Album/*.mp3. I only have 4 categories: Children, Music, Musical, & Soundtrack Upon receiving the unit I noticed that a great deal of the Music library was poorly tagged due to using different tagging methods over 15+ years of turning my crawl spaced stored CDs into 320kbps MP3s. After messing around with a few different solutions BlissHQ was used to have proper ID3v2.3 tags with embedded art. All other tags, including APE have been removed. Prior to the upgrading the firmware from v1.01 to v1.03 I could resume playing SD Music or USB Audiobook within 10-15 seconds of starting the car. If I were to add a fresh song to the SD card, it would take about 20 minutes to re-populate/read for full playback access, however I could play most pre-existing songs off of the SD card or listen to a USB stored Audiobook while this occurred. The only issue was a few greyed out file folders and some of the Artists would be listed out of alphabetical order -> it is this issue that prompted me to try the latest and greatest firmware. With no changes to any of the files on the USB or SD card, after the firmware update the SD car would not read past 90% and every time I restart the radio it begins reading from 40-60%. MANY of the artists would no longer populate and would often be unable to play either USB or SD without a vehicle restart. The ONLY action I took for this to happen was to remove the SD and USB drives so that I could install the v1.03 firmware. After talking to Pioneer it appears the unit has no way to roll back to the prior firmware and they suggested that I do a factory restore -> it keeps v1.03 but allows the settings to go all back to default. Note that Five Star Stereo has found has suggested that 1.01 CAN be flashed over 1.03 IF one can only find the files. With no changes to the unit, and only the SD card inserted, the problem persisted. So, it was time to try something else. Note: Do the following at your own risk Using a Windows Machine 1 - Copy the music to a local HDD. I put it into a folder named TempMusic 2 - Format the SD card, unselect Quick Format, and give the card a new name 3 – Strip the TempMusic of everything other than MP3 files, post Tag Cleanup, all album art should be imbedded anyways 4 – Right click TempMusic and ensure that ReadAccess is disabled for the folder and all subfolders 5 – Create and run (NOT as an Administrator) CleanForPioneer.bat file in TempMusic with the content below. Note that this deletes all files with the extensions listed in all subfolders from TempMusic. /A:H then removes any previously deleted/hidden files. cd %1 attrib -h -s *.* /s del /s *.ini del /s *.db del /s *.m3u del /s *.jpg del /s *.png del * /A:H 6 – Now ensure only MP3 files remain. Open CMD and CD to TempMusic dir /s/b >f.csv [enter] This returns a list of all directories and files. Open this in Notepad and replace all “,†with “ “. Open this in excel Column B: =RIGHT(TRIM(A1),4) Column C: =IF(LEFT(B1,1)=".",0,1) Filter by C = 0 Sort by B. This will return a list of all 3 character long file extensions. Remove anything that is not an MP3. 7 – Now run CleanForPioneer.bat again
  3. Missing Album Art

I have just installed my new NEX6000 and have started to experiment with its features. I decided to test out the SD card slot using some albums I had ripped to MP3s. Each album is in its own folder and each folder has a file in it named "folder.jpg" which is a common method for ripping, but for some reason the art doesn't appear when I play songs in SD mode. The music plays fine and the tag info shows up on the screen fine as well. I called Pioneer tech support and of course they had no answer for me. All they could say is that the MP3s they got from iTunes were showing the album art when they played them from an SD card. Now the real kicker in all of this is if I hit the "Mixtrax" button then magically all of the album art appears as long as I stay in that mode. When I exit MixTrax mode the art vanishes again. The tech support rep was stumped by all of this. He simply took my info and said they would have to do some testing and get back to me. He wasn't even able to tell me for sure how to get album art to appear. He said that maybe it had to be embedded in the tag of each song, but was just guessing at that point. If so then that is incredibly stupid of Pioneer to do it that way since you would have to waste a ton of storage space to add the graphics to each and every song. Also, I'm not even sure how to get my ripper to add the art as a tag. I've never seen that as an option. I was just wondering if anyone has any insight on this topic since apparently the creator of the product does not. I have one week left to return the unit and this may be a deal breaker for me if I can't get it resolved. Oh yeah, while I had him on the phone I asked about CarPlay and he said it was still slated for a summer release. Based on what I've seen from the AppRadio apps, I'm not too sure they'll be able to get that done right either. I predict those apps are going to be too restricted to be of any real use. I'm also really disappointed in the screen clarity on the HDMI mode. I don't understand how an HD interface can look that grainy on such a small screen, but it does.
  4. As time goes on, I'm noticing that both the album art and channel icons aren't properly represented for certain stations. I certainly haven't checked all stations; and it doesn't even happen with all of my presets. But for some stations, it does happen consistently. You can see the station's number indicated on the bottom. Titles for station, artist, and song are also always correct. (In fact, tags still work). I snapped a few photos with my iPhone to show you what I mean. One photo shows Station 312 (Tom Petty's Buried Treasure) but the station icon for '90's on 9 is present as well as the album art for Collective Soul song that is currently playing on Station 9. The next photo shows Station 319 (Classic College Radio) but the station icon is for '40's on 4. I didn't look to see if the song that was playing on Station 4 at that time had any album art to display. The last photo shows Station 316 (Sirius XM Comes Alive) and the album art is even correct. But the station icon is for Today Show Radio. I've also seen this with Channel 313 (RockBar). Other things worth mentioning: Not only do station icons exist for the affected stations, but everything is usually exactly as it should be when I initially tune into the station. It's only seems to be when the next song starts is when things start getting screwy. Incorrect station icons are not always the same for a given station. Example: Sometimes RockBar will go to '90's on 9 with incorrect album art. Sometimes RockBar won't show album art but the station icon will be NBA Radio. I know that station numbers for the examples that I've given are all in the 300's. (Are those the stations that are exclusively for Sirius XM as opposed to Sirius or XM?) Could that have something to do with it? I don't know. Just thought that I'd throw this out there to see if others are seeing what I'm seeing.
  5. Has anyone had a problem where all of a sudden there head unit stopped displaying album art? I was driving the other day and with the setup I have- AVIC-X950BH CD-AH200C / Samsung MHL adapter / SG3 - Center console iPod / Cables - Glove box Anyways, the iPod stopped working, and I ended up having to restart it (not reset). After I did that, no album art. I've tried everything I've done in the past to fix this issue, including erasing the iPod, and restoring it with a backup, and re-syncing with iTunes, and am about to try MediaMonkey. Where it gets weird is that Pandora, which uses my Android phone, and different connector kit to HDMI, stopped showing album art as well. Most songs don't even show the music icon where the album art should be, it just acts like that isn't a feature. I know this used to work- I had already flashed the deck to the latest firmware, so the only other thing I can try is to reset the deck to factory settings. Anyone run into something like this? Thanks, Jon
  6. I recently installed the AVIC Z 140BH in my car. I pared my EVO 3D through bluetooth. I don't see any options for Pandora. I don't see my phone song list or playlists. Do I need to do anything special in my phone or the car music system?
  7. Album art on AVH-P2350DVD

Hello Guys, Newcomer here,! I just bought a AVH-P2350DVD unit. Its working great and im lovin it... The only detail that taking my sleep is about album arts. It simply doesnt show any album art from a usb flash drive source or a dvd disc. Is it normal? does it only show from a ipod connection? anybody knows how to make it work??... thanks a lot..!
  8. Z130BT Voice Recognition w/o iPod

So, I abhor Apple and their inferior products, and thus do not own an iPod or iPhone. It also makes no sense to me to spend so much money on a head unit for good audio quality, only to degrade it notably by using the stupid analog signal iPod cable. Thus, simply getting an iPod is not an option. What I do not understand is why Pioneer does not have voice recognition with regards to music when using an SD card or thumb drive that isn't an Apple product, and why it will not display album art. Has someone written software or created a hack that gets around this ridiculous limitation? There is no reason properly tagged MP3 files cannot be read by the head unit for voice recognition or album art display! Please tell me there is a solution other than selling my soul and getting an Apple product... Edit: Just to be clear, the voice recognition works well in pretty much every other aspect, so it is not an issue with my head unit. I also have the most recent firmware version installed.
  9. Hi everyone, I recently had my AVIC Z130 installed in my car. I frequently use the iPod capabilities to play my music through the head unit. At first all of my music's album art was displayed. However, recently upon syncing my iPod none of my newly added songs display artwork on the headunit, which is running the latest firmware. My iPod Touch is a third generation model running iOS 4.2.1 and my entire music library is encoded in Apple Lossless with embedded artwork. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if there was a known fix? Thanks.
