robster
Have a DMH-1770NEX I bought a year and a half ago. About 3 weeks ago, screen went completely black and I thought the unit was dead. Then randomly the splash screen came on with vertical lines through it. Now the splash screen comes up that says NEX on it, but it never gets farther than that! Backup camera works. I have heard the AVIC line has a series of crappy sd cards, does this model have this as well? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix?

robster
YES!! That problem went away and now it just says NEX on the screen and never gets past it.
asd255
this is a manufacturing defect. bad soldering flash ROM (U27) repair will require a soldering station and force firmware rewrite I can provide detailed information on how to fix the defect. but you will need to be able to use the soldering station

sdamian
Hello, I do not have the tool you have that switches the illumination and power supply on or off. But will that be okay if I connect the wires to a power supply generator and use a breadboard to give certain ground and voltages to the specific wires? I am thinking of creating a simple switch-button circuit for the illumination On 4/16/2023 at 11:18 PM, asd255 said: This problem is for models DMH-160BT,DMH-1700NEX,DMH-1770NEX,DMH-A4450BT,DMH-A4480BT,SPH-DA160DAB I have a service bulletin for SPH-DA160DAB the repair process consists of 2 parts 1. soldering 2. So far my car radio seems better off, but the problem has been intermittent before the fix, so may take a week or two to know for sure if this fixed it on my end. There was nearly no solder on the pins as-is, so hoping this will stay ok. I'm curious if anyone has the forced update files for DMH-1770NEX? I have the latest firmware (CUST_PIO.BIN w/ CUST_PIO.md5), but wasn't sure if the additional files (ISPBOOOT.BIN, ISPBOOOT.md5, turndegradedmode) from the upload are compatible with this model. Would like to do this just to have a clean firmware on the radio, just in case some files were corrupted on U27 (looks like it is ESMT's F50L2G41XA?). Thanks!
