I'd say if you already have the PNR1, give it a shot and if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. If you're looking to buy a PNR1 because it's cheaper than a PNR2, you might want to save the trouble of buying it and finding out afterwardss that it's not compatible, and buy the PNR2 instead.
