Supercop29
Any thing special i need to know to install Z2 in Crown Vic?
acr
You will have to grind off the top and bottom lips of the radio pocket to fit a double DIN radio in your CV. There isn't really any way to secure the radio in the pocket either.
cntrylvr79
99-5805 with some minor modifications will allow you to anchor a double din in that dash.
Supercop29
Got it in car last night..WOW... looks good... we just wrapped tape around it to keep it tight in hole... looks okay... works great.... haveing problems changing back ground, I think it might be my cd write on this computer, says unreadable dick when I put it in the car. So I'm working on that. Thanks Batman.... tell Robin hi!!
cntrylvr79
So the avic now reads dicks eh? That's a new one.
acr
Is the 99-5805 intended for 1.5 DIN pockets? 03+ CV's do not have a true 2-DIN pocket
cntrylvr79
no, it's actually meant for the ranger and older exploders. It can be modded to work, I've done it a number of times. Not a big fan of leaving a $1000+ nav system unsecured in a dash, and tape is just ghetto.
Supercop29
Thanks i will see if I can find it... I also not a big fan of leaving it open!
Dane186
Tape? Tape is for Focus's.
acr
How did you mod it to fit? My AVIC is just sitting in my dash unsecured. I padded the sides with foam to keep it in place, but a better solution would be nice.
cntrylvr79
After you shave down the top and bottom of the dash bezel, you'll have to take a small amount off of the top and bottom of the 2 side pieces of the dash kit. I've got one at work, if I have time I'll try and take pics of what has to be done. By the way in order to mount the avic with the kit into the car you will have to remove the dash facia from the vehicle. Then slide the kit parts into the dash opening. Finally slide the avic into the kit and remount the whole thing into the car. It helps when you go to mount the avic to the dash piece to unclip the air vents to either side of the radio opening.
