corrupt2k
Hi.. great info on this forum! Question for those who have upgraded their Z1 to a Z2.. I plan on buying a new HD and installing the Z2Bypass Image that is floating around on these forums. If things go wrong, should I be able to put my original HD (with the orig. Z1 image) back in my Z1, and it will work? Also, if I am using a new and blank HD, do I still need to unlock it, or can I just image it using Acronis? Thanks!
inferno999
If things go wrong, should I be able to put my original HD (with the orig. Z1 image) back in my Z1, and it will work? Haven't tried it myself. I know that once you upgrade the Z1 to a Z2, the Z1's on-board firmware is updated in addition to the files on the hard drive, so I'm not sure if the Z1 drive will work anymore. ... You could always try it and let us know Also, if I am using a new and blank HD, do I still need to unlock it, or can I just image it using Acronis? It won't need to be unlocked, but you DO need to disable security on it or the Z1 / Z2 will lock it the moment you put it in. And, of course, a Toshiba drive is recommended (as per the HDD research thread)
corrupt2k
Great.. thanks for the quick reply! I am looking at which model to buy now, as the ones that are mostly mentioned have now been discontinued.
taichi2134
Yes is will work. Although the on-board firmware is updated to Z2 but I have tested to be able to insert the orig Z1 drive to work.
