rustyventure
Hello, everyone: I'm getting ready to install a D3 in my 2002 Lincoln LS this weekend. It's the "audiophile" edition with a factory subwoofer, powered by it's own amp in the trunk. As you know, the subwoofer/non-fading RCA outputs have left and right jacks. However, the harness I have has only one input. When the D3 is set to subwoofer mode for those outputs, is it smart enough to output mono to both channels (meaning I only have to plug one connector in, leaving the other one unconnected), or will I have to get a Y-adapter? Thanks! (FYI, here's a picture of the aftermarket harness, in case the description above is unclear: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=120705517)
hottwhyrd
use the white or left sub output. it shouldnt matter since sub output is mono anyways. but just hook up one and youll be alright
HiFiSi
Yeah, just use one of the two outputs... But if after everything is hooked up and running, the sub output is too low, you could use a Y-adapter to bridge the signal of both outputs into the amp. But only hook up one at first just to make sure, because if bridging both together puts out too much preamp voltage (although it's not likely, the preout voltage on the D3 is low as hell) it could blow the amp.
