Difficulty w/ voice commands AVIC Z110BT

I have the 2.5mm blue tooth microphone plugged in.

1.press the mute button.

2.talk into the mic. Example  play artist such & such.

Sometimes the pac man w/ speech example comes on screen now it’s not appearing on screen.

When the pacman did appear the only response was can’t understand.

Thanks for any voice activation tips

I'm confused why you call it a blue tooth microphone. Are you using something other than a wired mic plugged in to the 2.5 mm port on the back of the unit? There is no bluetooth involved.

It's called 'Voice' button. It will mute the source if you press and hold it. Maybe you're holding it too long or there's something wrong with your button causing it to stick.

Regarding Voice commands, I rarely used them for other than phone dialing. I used my phone and bluetooth to play music. Unless you have a supported iPod connected via USB dongle, there are no voice commands like 'Play Artist' or 'Play Playlist' or any other commands to select the music based on ID3 tags. For other storage devices (DVD, USB, SD) there is a very limited set of voice commands to move between selections (Next track, previous track, etc).

Also, I seem to remember that the original Z110-BT firmware had more voice command functionality that went away with the next firmware/map upgrade. I believe those missing commands were mostly for navigation searches. What version of the firmware are you running?

Keep in mind that this is 15 year old hardware that was once considered Pioneer's flagship auto audio system. But it is no longer supported with updates and is ancient by modern auto A/V standards. I replaced mine with a cheap ($200) Android based system that supports wireless Carplay/Android Auto. I use my phone apps for entertainment and nav. I can install any Android app I need just like on my phone. I never have to pay for or bootleg new maps.
