03 gmc sierra illumination hook up?

can anyone help explain how to hook up the ill for a d3 in a 03 gmc sierra?

hi there, I have an '04 Sierra. If you pull the light switch on the rear there are several wires coming out. Use a test light to find the dimmer wire, it was striped but can't remeber the colour. Tap into it.

 

now this is the dimmer line but it works fine until you turn the dimmer all the way down, then no power to the ill wire.

 

I think it was a brown wire with a stripe. Easy to find, it's on the lhs.
