  1. hi there, I have an '04 Sierra. If you pull the light switch on the rear there are several wires coming out. Use a test light to find the dimmer wire, it was striped but can't remeber the colour. Tap into it. now this is the dimmer line but it works fine until you turn the dimmer all the way down, then no power to the ill wire. I think it was a brown wire with a stripe. Easy to find, it's on the lhs.
  2. touch the screen again, then you'll see a soft button that says "music"
  3. I actually was wondering about map legends and symbols used on these maps. Of course Pioneer was useless, ended up going to to Teleatlas' website and had a look there. Downloaded a cople of user manuals for their software and now have a better idea of what some are. I'll see if I can find the files and upload them if need be.
  4. may still be the same issue. Check the manual but there is an upper and lower temp that the LCD has a hard time working in. Yours may be hitting the upper especially if it's 80 plus the inside of the truck is hot from sitting in the sun all day.
  5. when you say truck I'm gonna guess a diesel? If not this may still apply. I have a GMC Duramax and when it's cold out my D3 will do the exact thing. It's a common enough thing. Most seem to think it has to do with the florescent bulb for the LCD not having enough voltage to fire up. This I find especially true with the diesel because of the glow plugs drawing so much and then the starter. What I do, which is temporary but seems to work is: I turn the key on but only as far as the acc position. I wait for the D3 to fire up and then another 10-15 seconds. I believe there is
  6. had it once, just reset the iPod and good to go.
  7. had the Garmin 660, and before that several other excellent Garmin units. For navigation Garmin is the way to go but I do prefer the mapping features and details on the D3, not so goofy looking more like real maps. On my 660 that's the one thing I didn't like compared with the 176 or even the older street pilots it's maps were a little basic. Overall nac is much better on the Garmin but the D3 really isn't that bad. Apart from nav the D3 has some nice features as already mentioned.
  8. I bought a refurb from Apple too. Works great, and it was cheaper than buying from eBay, AND included shipping!
  9. summer time will give +1 hour, problem is in DST it will still be one hour behind. You have plus or minus 3 hours. Problem is default is Pacific Time. So add three hours and you will get EST. But, if you subtract three hours you will have the correct time if you were between North America and Hawaii!! I think the D3 was programmed in California and no thought given to the rest of North America.
  10. just did this myself. I believe instructions are on page 129. Pretty simple really.
  11. I have the ill wire tapped into my dimmer circuit on my GMC truck. If my headlights are on the D3 goes to night mode, if I turn dimmer switch right down so no int lights, D3 goes to day mode. Give it a try.
  12. pretty moronic isn't it? I believe by default the clock is set to Pacific Time, so you adjust the time three time zones into the Pacific Ocean. Idiots!

    cameras

question. going to install a camera on my truck, but also going to install one on the back of my travel trailer going into the av1 input on the rear of the d3. so when I put my truck in reverse, the truck cam will come on, can I view the av1 input cam on the trailer by selecting av1 or will the reverse truck cam over ride the av1 image?
  14. righto, thanks. Is Peripheral made by the same people then?
