cjacob
Hey All, I installed my AVIC-Z1 in a 2003 Nissan Altima (Bose) with the Metra kit. (Basically a "U" shaped bezel that fills in the half circle ends of the opening) The kit uses the factory brackets. The problem is that the unit doesn't clear the top of the opening so the face can't fold down. I noticed I had multiple options with where to mount the factory brackets on the Z1. I think I tried them all, and none allow the unit to sit just right. Anyone have experience with installing in this car? If so, do you have any pointers? Thanks! ~c
bdmpastx
In my 350Z I had to drill my own holes on the metra kit. I kept playing with it and I finally got it right.
va_connoisseur
Hey C. I am installing a D2 in my '03 Altima this weekend, how did you solve the issue? I am waiting for the parts and wonder if there is anything else I need to get with the mounting bracket. Thanks
cjacob
To be honest with you, I didn't do anything. It just settled in eventually. Looks and works great! Good luck with the install. Post if you have any problems. ~c
abillef
I had the same problem when installing it in my '03 Altima. I just trimmed the top and bottom edge a little to make the opening a little larger.
