SeaDoc
I'm getting close to finishing the install of the D3x, along with the bypass - do I really need to connect the VSS and Reverse (no reverse camera) - and if I don't what am I missing? Thanks for your views.
installermarc
Not really, but if you want the nav to be more accurate, then do yourself a favor and connect the VSS. It will keep up with your driving when you go through tunnels, and heavy woods when GPS signals get lost. Reverse is not really required unless you drive backwards alot, like me! SeaDoc
Thanks, I've heard some conflicting information regarding the bypass and if you connect the VSS along with it - if you do connect vss with the bypass, the system then knows you are moving and overrides the bypass in some way - is that true? HiFiSi
No. The vss being connected or not has no effect on the bypass. And no, the vss and reverse wires are not necessary, but they do help with nav precision.
kruff10
myself i would hook the vss wire up but the back up wire is only for if you are gonna hook up a back up cam ( it tells the nav that ur backing up and gives power to the cam.
wpageabc
Do them both while you are doing it!
