Installing AVIC-N3 in 2003 Accord

Recommended Posts

I just ordered the AVIC-N3. I own a 2003 Accord with an aftermarket Stereo Installed. As some may know, the 2003 Accord's factory radio is an integrated with the climate controls. There are 2 installation kits: one which installs essentially another radio in the storage DIN below the factory radio and the one I own: another more expensive kit (Metra 99-7864) which replaces the factory radio and climate controls and uses a standard DIN. This is pictured here:

As you can see, the climate controls are above the DIN space slightly inside the area where the AVIC-N3 DVD/NAV screen would pop up. So the obvious question is: how is this going to effect the maneuvering and fitting of the screen when fully retracted.

I read that "You can choose the LCD panel's angle between 50° and 110°. When the LCD panel is upright and it hinders the operation of the air conditioner, the position of the panel can be turned horizontal temporarily. The LCD panel's forward position can also be adjusted. When the Flap Setback is activated, the LCD panel retracts approximately 1/2"."

Will these settings allow for sufficient adjustment with the above pictured installation kit?

Thanks

I ended up installing the AVIC-N3 with the metra kit above. The environmental controls didn't cause a prolem, the forward position and angle adjust of the fold out screen lets position it perfectly.

For those with 03-06 Accords, here are some Pics:
