Roberto
Hello, I have a 2003 Mercedes ML which got an original mercedes GPS anetnna already installed (the one on the roof). Would I be able to use that with my Z1? And if yes, what adapter would I need to use as the antnna wire installed has a different socket to the Z1. Thanks.
zeek
If the car originally came with the gps installed then it could be the gps antenna, if it did not then its the phone antenna (SOS). Anyhow, if its the gps call pioneer they ca help the best and also call cruthfield. Good luck.
Bogie
What's up Roberto, I have an '02 ML500. I added a GPS antennae, mic, etc, so incase I decide to go back to the MCS, I can swap back. I didn't change my OEM harness.
Roberto
where did you install the GPS antenna? how easy is it? as I am doing the installation myself. As for the OEM antenna harness, I thought there was an adapter that could convert between the two interfaces without modifying the original wiring. Many thanks,
Bogie
My antenna is at the back of the truck, on the roof on the right side. It's not noticeable at all. As for the adapter, I don't know.
Tickbrotha
I took alittle more drastic approach, but it works for me. Removed the factory antenna Opened it up, torx bits and removed the board (Desoldered it and removed it all) Took apart both my Z1 antenna, and my XM/traffic module antenna. This made them small enough to package inside the factory antenna base. Cables route thru the antenna base and above the headliner, right up to the dash board. Signal strengh is outstanding
