thunderkyss
Hey guys, I've just installed an AVH4000-DVD in my wife's Expedition. I opted to get the NAV seperate(Magellan Maestro 4250) seperate, plus the AVH4000 also had a built in USB port. It works with an 8GB USB stick, but I was wondering if anyone got one of the USB powered HDs to work. I bought a WD 250GB My Passport, but it doesn't seem to work. I don't know if I need to leave it hooked up longer, so that the Head Unit would recognize it. But my 8GB USB stick worked almost instantly. both the 8GB USB, and the 250GB WD have the same files on them. & I've just begun playing with it, but can someone tell me if the MP3player controls are better than the simple interface I've been scrolling through. Surely, it will allow me to create playlists, organize the files by artist, genre, or album. Or will I have to set up my folders on my PC to do that??
whtcrxghst
Do you have it formatted in FAT32 or FAT16?

thunderkyss
They're both FAT32. What is the biggest USB storage device, that you know of, that works with one of these units??

Mr645
Hard drives also use more power then solid state drives. Some hard drives won't get enough power to spin up
