Screen Failure in Hot Weather

Recommended Posts

I tried a search and was wondering if there was a firmware update or some other solution for the screen not turning on when the unit is hot? The unit will start and all functions work through the steering wheel buttons, but the screen itself will not turn on when it is hot, or when it has been on for a while and then sits for about 5 minutes - say after a 300 mile trip, stop for gas, start the car, no screen! On startup it does show the small PIONEER UNIT, etc, message in the upper left, but after that the screen does not show any graphics. The screen will start again once the unit cools down. The unit is over a year old, am I SOL?

No FW updates/upgrades or whatever. And even if there were, it wouldn't fix anything hardware related (which is what this is).

Yes, you could very well be SOL. The manual says it's good up to 185 degrees (F)... If it's getting that hot behind the dashboard or at the screen, you might have some problems, be it the unit creating excessive heat or the unit's fan not running. And if it's NOT getting that hot and the screen is still going out, again, you've got a problem. Unfortunately your warranty is up... Is there any kind of extended warranty from where you bought it?
