  1. Thanks HiFiSi. I think there is an extended warranty, IF I can find it!
  2. I tried a search and was wondering if there was a firmware update or some other solution for the screen not turning on when the unit is hot? The unit will start and all functions work through the steering wheel buttons, but the screen itself will not turn on when it is hot, or when it has been on for a while and then sits for about 5 minutes - say after a 300 mile trip, stop for gas, start the car, no screen! On startup it does show the small PIONEER UNIT, etc, message in the upper left, but after that the screen does not show any graphics. The screen will start again once the unit cools do
  3. I've posted on this topic before, but when I originally installed my SWI-PS, I did not solder it in and found that it was tempermental at best. Once I soldered it in and had consistent connections, it has worked great.
  4. I have a 2005 4Runner and used the wire that is highlighted in this link (a couple of posts down, but has pictures). http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthrea ... genumber=2
  5. A word of caution, take it for what its worth as I am not a professional installer, but I did find that the SWI-PS works great when all of its connections are soldered. I think some people have had bad experiences with their SWI-PS controllers because they use cheap connectors that have consistency/connectivity issues with the tiny SWI-PS wires. Once I soldered mine in, it has worked flawlessly.
  6. Edited to answer the first question: My voice prompts don't work through the BTB unit either. I have a Pearl with ATT service. I've had it for about a year and my first one had to have updated software installed, but my second Pearl came with the update - if you buy from Ebay, just know that you may get a first gen phone and will have to find and figure out how to update the software. My current software is V4.2.1.96 and that definitely works with the BTB unit. The phonebook will synch with the BTB200, but I find the phonebook interface kind of cumbersome to search. I keep the ph
  7. I am happy with the Bluetooth BTB200 interface. Its not perfect, but has good sound quality for both ends of the connection and having hands-free is definitely a safety feature. I have a BB Pearl (ATT service) and had to update the software on the Pearl to synch the phonebook, but it all works well now. I think the BTB200 has a cumbersome phonebook interface, so I usually use the actual phone to quickly search for names and call directly from the phone (which is to say that I hit send on the phone, but it connects through Bluetooth and thus becomes a hands-free call). I do like having the
  8. Here is the link I used for that info. That website had some other helpful info for my install as well. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthrea ... genumber=2

    Altimeter?

Does anyone know if there is any way to see your actual altitude on the D3?
  10. Thanks for the help. I tried the green wires in the factory harness, which didn't seem to work. There were two green wires, one appeared to be a speaker wire and I don't know what the other does, it was in the connector with only three wires. However, I just ran the ILL wire from the unit down to the green wire that illuminates one of the seat heater buttons and that works fine. I'm probably missing something here, but decided to run it to something that I knew would work. Now if I could just get my Swi-PS to work right I will be done.
  11. Thanks, will try tomorrow and let you know.
  12. Noob here and wanted to thank everyone on this board for all of the great advice and pre-emptive trouble shooting for an AVIC-D3 install. The only thing that I have not figured out is how to hook the ILL (dimmer) wire into the stock harness so the AVIC will dim automatically when I turn the headlights on and use the dimmer. I have searched the archives, have searched on toyota-4runner.org and have googled to no avail. Would someone mind helping me out here?? It's a 2005 4Runner Limited V8 4WD. Thanks! BTW, I installed my D3 with bluetooth, ipod, XM, SWI-PS, and TYTO-01 adapter for
