primehifi97
Had avicd3, been lurking here since I got it. Got f700bt Pontiac G6 w/ Monsoon I'm asking this and yes i've searched but I cannot find an answer that applies to me and I'm unsure about what I think is the answer. Essentially, I'm getting white noise, hissing, whatever, at all times. I get it when the volume is off completely and it's coming over all speakers. I get it even when the music is up and I touch the screen or the nav speaks. I've read about the line output isolators. The Monsoon amp in this car has all the speaker wires from the factory harness running into it then they go to component speakers. No rca style cables are involved (like the ones you use to hook up a subwoofer). I used to get it on my d3 too, but I was more then happy to kill the system volume altogether and it was gone. Unfortunately, I cannot do t hat with the f700 and even with the volume down to zero, if I touch the screen the static/white noise will play over the speakers as if the beep has also played, even tho it's down to complete minimum. Is a line output isolator going to fix my problem and if so, which one am I getting here? the Pac OEM-2? HELP! (crap meant to put this in troubleshooting, not gen sorry mods)
JLeach12
what kind of harness did you use?
primehifi97
Just a standard harness. The g6's dic info is in the radio, so we have to buy a metra adapter, which has the dic screen in it. I'd intended to put that metra bit in my glove box but i said frig it after a couple of months and being lazy. So i used the harness from the metra kit and just didn't use the wires going to the metra. It isn't a special gmlan harness or anything. Which is why i'm thinking I need the pac oem-2 line output convertor on my speaker wires. :/ Thanks
primehifi97
Vorian's post in another thread is what got me thinking along these lines: he said: I had "static-y" noises on my unit too but then I realized I needed to use something to lower the output from the radio before going to my truck's factory amp. I used a PAC OEM-2 to fix that problem. Before putting that in when I had the radio on and NOTHING was plating I would hear a slight hissing sound coming from the speakers. When the radio was on, volume level 10-15 was LOUD. In the Sound Settings for the navigation, I had master and voice set to just one level above the lowest possible setting and that was loud too and the beeps were very annoying and full of static as well. Not anymore! Now my average volume level is around 30 and if I want to LOUD 50 or 55 is just fine Smile ------ Same as mine, 10-15 is as loud as it can be and hissing all the time. Yettavr6
Easiest and cheapest solutions is to crimp or solder RCA plugs onto the wires coming from the car that feed the amp (should be green, purple, white and gray on your metra harness), and then plug them into the low level outputs on the Pioneer. JLeach12
if it isnt gm lan id use the metra gmos04 its a low level harness for amplified class II systems just a standard harness will overdrive your monsoon amp. the harness is more expensive but it does the job well. it also retains onstar if u got it.
