bertin129
Woo Hoo! The new iPod firmware update 1.1.2 fixes the video problem with the AVIC N4! I have a 160gb 6th gen iPod classic that I had to downgrade to firmware 1.0.2 to be able to use it with my unit... I've been reading around and found out the new 1.1.2 update was out for apple so I decided to give it a shot. It works! I updated my iPod and hooked it up to my N4 and it works like a charm... I am able to view movies, tv shows, and music videos! I don't know if anyone knew this, I've been reading around the forums, but found no mention of this. I just thought I'd give you guys a heads up. Very Happy

WesleyEng.com
I found this post today miraculously and tried it out, but to no avail I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I updated the firmware and when I plug my Ipod in, it's the same thing, it charges, but that's about it. No video button, nothing. I've tried resetting the ipod, turning the ignition off then on and nothing. I've been using my friends 30 gig classic (2005) the entire time for my music videos and I really REALLY want my 160gig to work, because I have so many movies and music videos which is around 100gigs. How did you downgrade to 1.0.2? Did the movies and videos work with 1.0.2?
WesleyEng.com
Okay I figured out how to downgrade to 1.0.2 but it still won't read my 160gig ipod. It will still charge it and all, detects it, but none of the buttons work. I don't know what to do anymore, but find someone with an 80 gig and trade it. What cable are you using and what year 160gig do you have?
fryjr
My iPod Classic wouldn't work until after my wife hooked up her iPhone. After that it worked!!! I had to replace my AVIC-N4 with a new one. My Classic wouldn't work. So I hooked up my wife's iPhone then the Classic worked again! No idea why but that is my method to getting it to work. VBLUE42
Restore you ipod and resync the data. If that doesn't work, there may be something wrong with the dock connector on the ipod. I would try it with another ipod classic or try you ipod with something else to determine if it is the ipod thats the problem.

WesleyEng.com
I did some research and from my understanding, the Classics have an Authentication Chip and you would need an authenticated connector for any of this to work which apple or pioneer haven't made yet. WesleyEng.com
I just installed the Apple Ipod RCA cable and IT WORKS! The 160gig works flawlessly. There's no touchscreen control, but that's okay! Atleast now I can hand pick a song if I want to on shuffle, which you couldn't do before!
