Wire installation questions

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at the install guide for the avic f70bt and I want to know about a couple of the cables.

PINK: Car speed signal input cable

What happens if I don't connect this cable? Is it ok to leave it disconnected?

LIGHT GREEN: Parking brake on/off

Same question, what happens if I don't connect this cable?

Also I am going to order the mitra wire harness, but it doesn't look like it has a dimming cable? Is it there? http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... =120707552 I don't have the harness yet, but from what I know it should be an orange or orange white cable, but there are no orange cables on that wire harness.

Go read this...

The wire harness should have wiring instructions with it as far as the dimmer etc

I think the VSS (speed wire) can be left unconnected but you should connect it.

Looks like you have a nissan, double check the proper/best way to hook up the speaker wiring. You may have better luck getting info on that by looking on some nissan forums.

Use the search function on this site for more info. Most of your questions are probably already answered.

Yeah, i've been reading this forum for the past several days solid. Lots of good information.

Going to ask on the nissan forums also about the dimmer cable.

Also what benefit does the speed wire offer? I want to keep this installation as simple as possible, adding this wire makes it a pain.

It has something to do with the Nav being able to give you a more accurate estimate of your current location when you can't get a signal (I think) Like when you go into a tunnel or whatever. Just get off your lazy butt and hook up the wire and stop looking for shortcuts hah. I thought it was a pain too.
