armangti
Hey guys, I just got my Avic D3 that i purchased off ebay. I have a 12V battery in my room and i connect the Red+Yellow Wire to the Positive Side, and i put the black wire to the Ground (-) negative side. The fan on the D3 comes on and the display or lights dont come on either. I just want to test it on my 12V battery before i buy the dash kit and everything. I want to know everythings functioning before i install it because if it isnt i can just return it to the seller. Also, i tried connect the Illuminator to the (+) and that didnt help. The fan just comes on but nothing. Any ideas? What should i do, please help!!
madsonp
Sounds like it's toast to me. Not that I think it'll help, but did you try pushing the reset button ? I'd say you're going to end up sending it back.
CamelTowing
You sure that battery is giving it a full 12 volts?
armangti
Yes, it is giving full 12 volts. I even tried the battery on my car. Where is the reset button located?
Julius
Did you check your fuse?
armangti
the fuse is working fine.
Julius
I believe it needs to be returned. The illumination wire will only darken the screen when 12 volts is applied.
madsonp
Yes, it is giving full 12 volts. I even tried the battery on my car. Where is the reset button located? Small hole up by the menu and map buttons
armangti
i tried the reset button, nothing changed besides the fan. The fan runs like pulsing _/\_/\_....when i press the reset and hold it the fan will run steadily normal. I bought this for $240 and do you think i should return it or get it fixed by my dad(electrical engineer) he fixes car stereos and does electrical work for a living. Julius
Let your dad look at it,if it's a simple fix for him then by all means let him do it.If the parts are costly and the labor is too involved then send it back.Remember your warranty period, don't let it expire. armangti
no luck, we opened the top and couldnt see anything. I'd rather return it because if we open it and if its something not fixable..They will probably know that i opened the unit and not exchange/return it at all.
Julius
Next time get your D3 off of this site, they're selling them all the time. I bought my Eclipse Nav. from here about a year ago and had no problems. Go into the classified and look around. Good-Luck ! P.S. Let us know how your return go !
