braticus
Sorry if this has been brought up before. I've tried searching on this site and others, but there isn't much specific info. I recently purchased one of these units, and would like to install it in my 2003 Subaru WRX, however, I want to keep my stock head unit intact. Is there any way to do this? If so, what do I need to install this so I can use it over my factory speakers in conjunction with my OEM head unit? Any other tips on how to do this correctly? -Thank you
Yazon
You will need ND-G500 Pioneer amp, a wire harness specific for your car (look up on Metra's website), iPod cable CDIM200VM ifyou want to hookup ipod and that's about it.
kingchkn
There is also a jack attached to the main harness of the unit that will allow you to plug into a AUX input if your factory unit supplies one.
braticus
So there's no way I can hard wire the power to this unit? I'm stuck using the lighter port for power? -Thanks
Yazon
Of course you can use external power... i believe some of the wires in the harness are for that
osafie
You can provide direct power by hacking cig. lighter adapter and then just tap into the cig. lighter wires from behind. This is what I did, and it works great.
