F700BT Santa Fe Questions

Recommended Posts

Purchased my Hyundai santa fe and it had the Pioneer F700BT installed already through FutureShop about 2 months ago. After using the system for about 3 days, here are my pet peeves that I'd like to get changed - can't find the answers for these (except the first) on the forums, but will keep checking:

1) I hate the clicking sound that happens everytime I use my steering wheel for the volume control. Any way to turn this off? EDIT: Found answer here: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17249)

2) Is there any way to control my FM radio preselcts from my steering wheel? When I click on the up and down arrows, it does a 'scan' instead of going through the presets.

3) I did a sync of all my numbers from my Blackberry Curve and there are simply way too many numbers that I have to go through. Do I have to go through each to select, or is there a better way to do this by editing at least 100+ of my contacts off?

4) When my BB is connect via bluetooth, I don't have the 'keypad' option on the pioneer system (it is greyed out and not hilighted), and I can't select it to make a manual call from the display. How do I change this? Why can't I use the keypad on the Pinoeer screen?

5) Is there any way to get the bypass done with the guys who did my install at Futureshop, or would they charge extra? Not having done the install before or not even knowing where to start and having a fear of ripping into a beautiful display, I'd rather have someone do it for me.

6) Are there any mods to have the USB input as part of the dash - I hate the wire in the golve compartment.

7) Can the blue LED background (around the Menu button etc), be changed to red?

Thanks - sorry for the mucho questions!

I have the 07 SantaFe and I installed the system (the 900BT tho) myself, including the bypass. I ran the auxiliary cables (i.e. A/V and USB) down the middle console. Between the two seat heating buttons there is space reserved for the 110V outlet which I don't have. So what I did was to take it out and drill a 1/2" hole into it through which I pulled the cables. You can then even use the small tray there to put your iPod or whatever... This requires disassembly of half the interior though.

I can't help you with the other issues tho. PM me if you need more specific help!

EDIT: I can change the backlight color in the Settings menu. Again, this is true for my 900BT and I don't know for the 700BT. Refer to the manual I suggest.

ewww, sounds like a lot to do to get that USB in, eh?

Since I installed everything myself (incl. HD radio, steering wheel adapter etc.) I got pretty good at it LOL! It takes about 20 min to take of the interior, just be careful not to scratch things! If you live in MD you can stop by and I'll show you how to do it. It's up to you if you want to invest some time and have it nice or not.

An alternative could be the small box on top of the radio. This will take 5 min to cut a hole in the bottom of it and run the cable through there. Which model (year) SantaFe do you have?

I have a 2008 Santa Fe and live in Ontario, Canada.

As I didn't do the original install, I'm terrified of trying to take this thing apart. Maybe the USB in the glove box is ok?

OK, Canada is too far ;)

It is up to you if you want to keep it in the glove box. I like playing around and customizing things, as long as I can manage it! If you don't feel comfortable pulling apart your car then don't bother! It's probably not worth it :) But you can try the alternative with the little compartment in the middle of the dashboard. I wish I could take pics to support my words but I have to get a new camera first LOL!

Guys - further to my question, here are some pictures illiustrating question #4 - help me out here....why are options 'greyed' out like Navi Settings, System Settings, Dial Pad, etc...

My car was not on but in 'park' mode. I thought maybe this was greyed out due to safety when the car was being driven, but it happens all the time.

Thoughts?

As for the last picture this is what happens when you drive - the icons will grey out so you can concentrate on driving ;) I bet the speed unlock will do the trick. Maybe the pink wire has been connected wrong and constantly suggest the AVIC that you are driving?

Did you check in your BlackBerry Bluetooth settings that the phone book transfer is allowed? That's all the help I can offer...

I tried this with the key in the ignition, and car not turned on as well as tried it in the ignition with the car in 'park' mode. What is the 'speed unlock'?

I have seen all of this work in the past with the sellers phone when he was selling me the car. Very confused...

As for the Blackberry - what would the phone book transfer have to do with the system settings button being greyed out?

Man - I hope someone can help!

The video bypass that enables you to watch DVDs and to change numerous settings while driving can be found elsewhere (http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17715). I also read that when your park brake control wire from the head unit is wired improperly you will have certain features disabled.

I was assuming that when you pair a BT phone that does NOT have the option of phone book transfer then the Navi would notice that and gray out the button. I have function "transfer phonebook" in my BB when paired with the Navi; maybe you have that too?

I think at this point, i should try a reset of the system. all of this did work when the seller was selling me the car - then he did a reset before selling it to me. not sure why it isn't working now. I haven't tried using my handbrake, but will try that when i get home...

--> I transfered all my numbers from my BB to the avic via bluetooth. But why would the 'phone keypad' not be active? I can make calls from the avic/bb via bt, no problemo!

You got me on that one! But there is a bluetooth 3.3 update out which is also being discussed in this forum. Maybe that can fix the problem? It can be downloaded with instructions from the Pioneer website!
