jamierph
Hello, I have been getting conflicting answers on this question and hope you guys would be able to set me straight. I have a AVIC-N3 that I have purchased about a month ago and have Sirius. Is this unit able to handle both XM and Sirius at the same time? Thanks for the help.
cntrylvr79
Yes you can have both xm and sirius on the n3 at the same time.
jamierph
Thanks. Is there a separate input for the XM vs Sirius or do you have to do creative wiring?
cntrylvr79
No creative wiring needed. The units get daisy chained. The avic will recognize each on individually.
jamierph
What is "daisy chained"
cntrylvr79
One tuner will plug into the other, then the other tuner will plug into the avic.
jamierph
OK. So your run one into the other using the input/output. How do you power both? What is the data out port for on the XM. Sorry for all the questions but I still have everyone around town telling me it can't be done and I'm going to try it myself.
BigFloppy
Run the Sirius (Output) -> XM (Input) AND the XM (Output) -> N3 ... If you add the iPod interface, your setup would look like.... iPod (Output) -> Sirius (Input) Sirius (Output) -> XM (Input) AND the XM (Output) -> N3 ... this is the daisy-chain The dataPort on the XM is for NavTraffic
jamierph
Got it. I assume that there is a place to plug the data port on the N3 and also would you just power one of the items (ie the Sirius) and that will power them all.
BigFloppy
There *should* be a place to plug in the dataPort on the N3 (and there's a corresponding plug on the GEX-P10XMT - XM with NavTraffic) You'll need to power all components separately, the daisy chain is purely for music/data transfer
