Monty911
Hello, I just got my P4000 unit and when I tested it I can get no video on the thing whatsoever! I put in a DVD and it plays, there is sound but no video. Even when I ground the parking brake wire or do a bypass i get the screen with the warning, push "OK" and then the screen just goes blank or I get the background screen. I have tried everything, the shop that was to do the installation even has some different units there and those work with the same harness and wires they used on mine. I am totally lost here! I tried getting video from an external aux source and nothing, I even tried a rear view camera and still nothing. The unit just seems NOT to be picking up video altogether. Is there some setting I am missing or something that's not working right? When the DVD is in, the counter starts moving and it says playing but nothing shows up on screen, We didn't check the audio but I believe that it is giving off audio as the DVD is playing but I just get nothing on screen Again I must say I don't think this has anything to do with it needing to be bypassed as we were grounding the hand brake wire to get the override and did the same with other units that worked. Has anybody else had this problem, and if so how did you cure it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
dizzyd89
Ok... you have an extremely simple error. go to the AV MENU FUNCTION MENU or SYSTEM MENU cant remember which one And on your "AV INPUT" or "BACKGROUND" you have to play with it because I cant remember the exact settings but make sure you have the background set to either dvd or av or something like that and then have your av input set to dvd or somethign of the sort. Its not a wiring issue and its not a bug. Its just the settings you have for your current display that needs to be set correctly. You will only have to do this once so dont be alarmed. phisig
HELP! I am having the same problem as mentioned above. Tried adjusting the settings and still no luck. What do I do?
phisig
I managed to figure this out. I thought I would actually share how this issue was resolved for those who have problems in the future. I grounded the purple wire on the pioneer harness to the main ground on the pioneer harness, just ran a wire between the two and used vampire taps to make the connection. Hope that saves someone down the road.
djslick35
Okay all u need is a 2 wire switch connect one side to ground and the 2 wire to the brake wire from the unit. Then when the warning sign comes up turn the switch on then off. Press okay on the screen and ur done.. I'm a installer I have the same unit in my car.. The purple wire is for ur backup camera Do not connect that wire to ground! enjoy
Clipzin33
DJ for you being an installer, you should realize the easiest and cleanest way to bypass would be buying a automotive relay and one hooks to the power to the unit and one goes to a ground. When the unit turns on it energizes the relay switchign it to ground, thus fakign it into a parking break on state.
