TimboCummins
Just purchased the CD-UB100 USB adapter. The unit will only detect the USB thumb drive if I disconnect and reconnect the ip out cable. This has to be accomplished each time the USB thumb drive is reconnected. Works 0% of the time if you just insert the thumb drive and works 100% of the time if you disconnect and reconnect the ip cable. I have reset the unit several times. I have replaced the unit and all wiring with another unit. I have directly connected the thumb drive to the CD-UB100, the results are the same. I have varied the CD-UB100’s position in the daisy chain and no change. Any ideas. Tried searching long enough. Thanks http://dodgetruckworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/Timbocummins/396297.jpg http://dodgetruckworld.tenmagazines.com/gallery/Timbocummins/396302.jpg
CaptainInsaneO
Have you tried switching the source on the Z unit? That's a dumb question to ask, I know... but it's the only thing I can think of.
Tillude
maybe this could be the solution , i had the same problem connecting a hard drive to the F900 viewtopic.php?f=34&t=24960
TimboCummins
The USB is currently recognized as ext1. How do I change that to another source? Thanks for the response
CaptainInsaneO
I'm sorry I was pretty vague... I meant actually going into the Z interface and chooing the flash drive through there (like pressing AUX1 or EXT1, whatever it is) I was thinking maybe that would make it work somehow. I honestly have never hooked anything up to USB on my Z so I dunno for sure.
TimboCummins
Thanks however I have tired every setting there is. Nothing seems to work except unplugging the ip connector or resetting each time a different or the same thumb drive is inserted.
bridge4d
What kind of thumbdrive? Which file system is it running? Are you using proprietary software to add files to it or just drag/drop?
TimboCummins
I have tried several thumb drives and get the same result; I have formatted all drives with fat32. I just drag and drop to add the files. Thank you for your response.
bridge4d
Which Avic? Z1, 2 or 3? Native or upgrade?

bridge4d
Hmmmm No clue. Maybe you have a bad CD-UB100? You might want to try doing the available software upgrade to your unit...at least to the Z2 software and see if that fixes it. Also, return the CD-UB100 and get a new one. TimboCummins
the unit has already been returned and the new one does the same thing. scared to death to try an update, I will live with the current situation. I just keep the entire usb unit in my glove box and reconnect the ip cable when switching drives. Thanks for all the input
bridge4d
Everything is better after an update
TimboCummins
If you say everything is better after an update then maybe I should do it. I am just so happy with the unit as is and willing to live with this usb problem. I have had problems with updates with other equipment in the past but if you say it should go well then I will give it thought. I guess you are talking about the z3 update, will this erase my stored music?
