dontcallmejeff
I posted this in the Miata discussion, but I thought I would post here also. I'm about to get the 900bt installed and purchased a Sirius interface. But the installer is saying that the current Sirius receiver only works with the Miata head unit and I will need to purchase a new reciever, is this correct. Also does $250 sound like a fair price for the install, I'm in St Louis. Thanks John
SVT Amateur
Yes, you would need the Sirius receiver that works for the Pioneer unit. Your previous Sirius unit probably only works with the stock Miata unit or maybe just Mazda units. Maybe you could sell it on a Miata or Mazda forum. As for install price I wouldn't know. importsport
As for the XM/Sirius box, Best buy sells them for about $100.00. And 250.00 to install. That is crazy. Buy the dash kit and get with me and I will help you install it.
adarkol
Yes the installer is correct!!! ANY Factory installed sat brain is going to be propriety to the factory head unit... unfortunately for your situation you will have to purchase the Pioneer CD-SB10 $70 and the Sirius SCC1 $85(Universal tuner) built by Directed Electronics. Or you can get ahold of one of the old skool Pioneer SIR-PNR2 $100 (but kinda outdated) And if you are having it professionally installed $250 is mostly a fair price for install of the screen, GPS Antenna, BT Mic, Sirius translator, Sirius brain, and Sirius Antenna.
