1. I'm assuming since he is from NY that it is for North America.
2. Yes, you would need the Sirius receiver that works for the Pioneer unit. Your previous Sirius unit probably only works with the stock Miata unit or maybe just Mazda units. Maybe you could sell it on a Miata or Mazda forum. As for install price I wouldn't know.
3. When you draw the box you leave a space on both the left and right sides, correct? I had the same issue on my D2 with the total right side buttons not working and following the directions fixed it.
4. Thanks for this. I'm using your links because the other west disk I downloaded had an error at the very end.
5. I'm still running the stock OEM firmware and maps for my AVIC-D2 that I purchased back in 2006. I'm planning on upgrading to the 2008 series maps tonight or tomorrow but I was wondering if there would be upgrading to the 2006 or 2007 series maps before hand. I'm just making sure there aren't any additional options or upgrades I would have received by upgrading to the 2006 or 2007 series maps before upgrading to the 2008 series. Do these upgrades only affect the actual maps or are there also firmware updates for our units on the disks as well?
6. Wow, I've had problems with my screen for the last 6 months to a year and this fixed it. Now I can actually adjust audio functions and use my navigation. Thanks.
7. Try www.pricegrabber.com. I got my D2 for $680.
8. Yeah, you will be satisfied then. Besides, we bought these units for navigation anyway and that's what I'm looking at while I'm driving.
9. Ok, you can store up to 18 presets which I don't think is any different than the XM module. I, like you, don't need enhanced surfing as I just pick my favorite channels and store them as presets. You can display channel number OR channel name OR artist name OR song name but only one can be displayed at a time. And to get the display to cycle through channel number / name / artist / song you have to go to the function menu and change a function number (i.e. function2 if i recall correctly), which doesn't have a name, and know that you are switching the display. It's very cumbersome and reta
10.
Ok, I installed the D2 in my car and it looks great. The only problem is the nav. I wired it to come out on top of my dash, right next to the windshield. It gets pretty poor reception right now...is the metal plate necessary or is that just a way to mount it? If it helps reception I'll use it, otherwise the signal is pretty poor...
Yes, definately use the metal plate. I was using it on my dash and had 0 problems with reception but didn't like looking at two antennas (gps and sirius). I then mounted right under the clock using the metal plate again and I ge
11.
I'm installing the D2 in my '06 STI this weekend (or earlier if I have time)...what wiring harness did you use? I don't want to splice the cables directly into the car but I called my local CC and they told me that a harness doesn't exist for the combo. If one does, could you give me the part # and if one doesn't exist, could you tell me how you wired it up? The D2 is sitting in its package on my bed at home right now! :)
They are wrong. I got my wiring harness from the local best buy and it's for 90+ Subarus.
12. I think it's just an issue with the D2. I know I read that it can confuse streets when they are close together or when travelling between tall buildings. Sometimes the best thing to do when this happens and you know is to just modify your current location.
13. Yeah, that install looks pretty good to me. I wouldn't worry about it.
14.
im new to this forum and i would like to know if you guys could help me out ... i just had my d1 installed but the green wire (it says brake on it) is not connected to anything. my question is: my navi wont allow me to search by address poi etc.. most of my destination options are grayed out.. is this because the brake wire isnt hooked up??? or could this be something else?? TIA
Correct. Your parking brake not only needs to be grounded but you also need to remove the cell phone mute wire from your AVIC-D2 harness and then insert it into the empty s
