radar app/software

i seen free software online for radar detecting online lets you know about speed traps....etc, just like on the blackberry storm there is an app that does such, now could i download that and put it on the Sd card and load it onto the gps ? will it work, has anyone tried this?

how does the blackberry storm detect the radar? is it using IR? AFAIK our unit doesn't have IR so it won't work,

I think its just a database of fixed radar speed traps.

Yes and no. There is a mod that basically downloads all the speed camera databases into the AVIC. I believe it's part of GTIMatts mods and others. However, the BlackBerry application your talking about, Trapster I think, is a live application that requires a data connection. People login to the application and report that there is a LIVE speed trap. The problem with this, is the data is only as good as the number of users who have a data enabled device and are reporting the current speed trap. The speed trap information is retired from the database after a fixed number of hours without anyone else reporting the trap as live.
