Installing TomTom

Recommended Posts

Forgive me if this has been posted previously. I have been looking around for the information and can't seem to figure it out.

I HATE the maps that come with my unit I have a AVIC-F710BT They are crap.

What I'd like to be able to do is install the maps that I have from my TomTom 720 onto the unit.

I can do the following: Get into test mode maneuver around and update files. I have SD cards I can use (4gb and 2gb).

I'm just frustrated with the way this system is set up, I can't believe I paid so much for poor software.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. (Hell I'm even willing to pay for it.)

Thanks.

As much as I love LeetLauncher , it's current beta status is holding me back from using it as my default frontend for my F910BT.

I also feel that the iGo map application is probably the worst choice that Pioneer could have made for its AVIC map application and would love to replace it with the TomTom equivilent.

Is it as 'easy' as replacing Ezrider with the TomTom map application for WinCE (renamed to ezrider.exe) and 'tweaking' it's settings to work with the rest of the Pioneer software ? Or , is all the Pioneer software 'signed' to stop this sort of mod ?

I totally agree with you. I am not familiar with TomTom but I know there are currently no Igo8 maps available for my country (Trinidad & Tobago). There are however Garmin maps. If there was a way to have the AVIC use Garmin Mobile XT as it's default nav software that would work fine for me at the moment.

By all measures iGO beats TomTom with one hand tied behind its back, at leats if you have current maps for your area...

There's no way to use anything other than Pioneer's build of iGO (not even a different version of iGO) without also completely rewriting Pioneer's main shell. So it's either LeetLauncher of built-in navigation...

OK , so the exrider is 'signed' and if the checksum isn't what the mainmenu then you get an error ?

No, it's not signed, but unless it sends heartbeat messages to mainmenu (probably), AVIC assumes that navigation crashed and reboots itself.

I got the USA_and_Canada_830_2323 map and have it installed, used keygen 2009 to create the .dct file.

Now, whenever I launch Tomtom, it gives me an error "Not enough memory"

I am using F500BT on 2.00600 firmware with LeetLauncher 3.0.

Quite reasonable design, really. This is a consumer appliance (that's what it is sold as... that it is a customizable computer is behind the point). Normal person wants to turn it on and be guided to their destination. Putting in a watchdog makes sure that if navigation crashes, it reboots immediately and, one hopes, keeps navigation after that.
