bheng
so is there? i kno the bypass is moving the yellow pin to the one over. but is there a way to keep the mute button and do a bypass?
VBLUE42
That wire has nothing to do with the mute function of the unit unless you have a hard wired car phone or you will be interfacing some other function that requires the head unit to mute. A good example of another function be be something like OnStar. That wire is not used with most of todays technology.
bheng
so just to clarify, i will still have the option to press mute, or is it the mute key for the onstar stuff? i was assuming mute was for music.
VBLUE42
The only mute button on the unit is the VR button when pressed for two seconds. All other muting (BT and navi) of the unit is through software on the unit. If you have OnStar or an external BT hands free kit you will use the mute wire to mute the unit when those devices are used.

bheng
not to be a nub or anything vblue, but i cant get the yellow wire out. got any ideas? i dont want to cut the harness like the video stated. . .
VBLUE42
Yea its a real pain in the but. You will need to lift the plastic strip that locks the pins in place. This strip will need to be braced open with something like a screw driver. Once you have the strip held open, insert a thumb tac into the front of the harness to push the wire out. If this doesn't work for you, try one of the other methods in the two bypass threads in this forum.
chad_avic411
If we are not using the Blue/White (System Remote Control) wire to turn on an amp couldn't we pull this wire and move it to the hole that the original instructions say move the Yellow/Black wire to. Then ground the Blue/White wire and continue to use the Yellow/Black wire in its original location so external sources can mute the stereo? It appears that the mute wire is necessary for those of us who have OnStar and would like the stereo to be muted when using OnStar.
garrettoomey
You can move any unused wire for the bypass.
urtruelove78
Yes, you can use any unused wire. I cut green parking brake wire and pushed it all the way in so that it comes out from front and then cut them. this way it surely makes connection.
WannaBBurly
Could you buy an extra wire like one of these from, say, a computer supply store? I don't even have a Z110 yet, and will probably just use the mute wire once I get it, just spitballin here I guess.
