pioneer.ini file

Recommended Posts

How, exactly, can I get to the pioneer.ini file to change the speed value so I can bypass the DVD restriction? I installed this AVIC-X910BT just recently, and I am not a not familiar with modifying it, although I did install a switch to ground the parking brake wire. With clear directions, I am sure I can manage. For example --

1. Do this

2. Do that

etc.

Also, won't making this change eliminate the speed info that the GPs uses, making navigation less accurate?

That deals with hacking the unit and the info on how to do that is all over this forum. Might want to start with the wiki. And no, changing that value will have nothing to do with the speed value on the unit. There is also a hardware bypass method that might be easier for you to accomplish. Again, instructions are posted on the forum.

I know this forum can be a little bit hard to search for problems. Most posts will say go to this thread, and blah blah. It's hard to find the one with the direct direction. I was on here a few days searching to make sure of what I'm about to do. Don't want an Avic X910BT as a paperweight.

Anyway, use a SD card ( I used a 16G), format it and then download the test mode ( I believe it's the version 2.3). If when you unzip it and it gives you two folders, that won't work anymore. With that test mode unzipped, copied to your SD card, put the card into to your Avic with power off. Turn it on and let the unit boost into windows. Instruction for this is included. That will give you step by step of how to copy all the files into your SD card for mods.

Once you get the files to your SD and on your computer, open APL2, then iGo, and open the zipped file named DATA with winrar or something alike (do not unzip it). What you do is right click and use "open with". Go to the folder "project_config", in there, you'll see the pioneer.ini file. Open it and scroll down to the parking_brake_speed and change it to 256. Go back to the unit, same step to boost into windows. Go to my storage card, copy the DATA file, then go back out. Go into the same folder on the windows and paste the file. It will say there is a folder like that existed. Go ahead and replace it with the new one. That should be it. Exit and enjoy the video while driving.

That's all I do and know for now. About the other mods and hacks, I'm still feeling unsure about them and didn't understand the purpose of them, so I didn't venture into doing it and taking chance of bricking the unit. Been reading on those, but still couldn't figure out what exactly each mod does, or change. Maybe it's me being too skeptical, lol. Or maybe it's because I havent' driving my car long enough to notice the reasons of why to mods. I only drove this car about one hour in the last three months. Anyway, good luck with yours.

PS: don't use the test mode in the instruction page, it's outdated. I've included the newer version also.

ok, if I understand you correctly, you tried to edit the pioneer.ini file for software bypass? If this is the case, then you need

1. A formatted SD card with test mode directory/folder and nothing else.

2. Insert your card and boot your X910/X710

3. Once you get in WinCE mode, try to recalibrate by going to

My device -> Control panl -> Stylus ->Calibration and follow the instruction to recalibrate (very important since u can easily mess up with this small screen unit.

4. Once its done, close the window and go to [My Flash Disk]

5. and go to APL2

6. and go to iGo, and you'll see a DATA file with a windows logo

7. Click on it, and go to top [Edit] and [Copy]

8. Now use the [<=] to go back to the My device window.

9. Go to the Storage card and use [Edit] -> [Paste] then you'll have your DATA file in ur storage card (SD card)

10. Turn off the unit, and use your PC/Laptop to open the SD card.

11. Use WinRAR to open the DATA without extract them.

then follow this

"Once you get the files to your SD and on your computer, open APL2, then iGo, and open the zipped file named DATA with winrar or something alike (do not unzip it). What you do is right click and use "open with". Go to the folder "project_config", in there, you'll see the pioneer.ini file. Open it and scroll down to the parking_brake_speed and change it to 256. It will say there is a folder like that existed. Go ahead and replace it with the new one. That should be it. Exit and enjoy the video while driving."

You should have everything done.

Hey all,

I'm having trouble getting the test-file on to my SD card. Can anyone provide me with any instruction on how to get the necessary files on to my BLANK SD card i just bought from the store?

Is it a file i download from the internet or do I insert the blank SD card into my AVIC x910 and download it from there?

If so, how?

thanks in advance guys
