vchang
Does anyone have this issue when starting up your car in cold weather, and a buzzing sound is coming from the deck. Maybe sounds like the hard drive, but this only started happeneing when the weather got cold. The buzzing goes away after a mintue or so. Any thoughts?
ducatiboy
Never had that sound but it could be the hard drive or the fan on the unit. It could even be one of the wires behind the unit wiggled and is now touching the fan blades and making a "wire on plastic blade" sound. You could open the screen, shut off the car, use a TORX drive and take out the hard drive. Then turn on the car, does it make that sound? If not turn off the car again and put in the hard drive. Does it now?
tillithz
I would suggest the wire getting clipped by the fan symptom causing the sound. because afterall, if the hd is making a sound that it isnt normally known to make, its really possible that the hd would be bad or going bad, and we dont want that. Theres a site with the different "bad" sounds that a hard drive makes as it starts going bad and actually gets to be bad. Might want to check the wire idea first, then look into the hd.
