MoreGooder
I just had a new Z140 installed. A few things that annoy the piss out of me: You can't turn the screen off unless you pull the parking brake. WHY? I would hate to go through the trouble of an e-brake bypass just so I can turn my screen off when I don't want to have it glaring in my face. Unlike my old AVIC D3, I can't choose background colors for the menus and such. The only display customizations are the spash screen (silly) and the button illumination color. I really detest BLUE as a background color because it is so incredibly distracting. It takes a long time to start up. The cooling fan is loud, high pitched and CONSTANTLY on. Why isn't it thermostatically controlled? discuss......

Oh there's quite a bit more you cant do then that if you dont do the bypass. The cooling fan is loud, high pitched and CONSTANTLY on. Why isn't it thermostatically controlled? It cost more. LvnInOC
Hello, VBlue42, I am new to the world of Pioneer and just installed the new Avic-Z140BH. Although I am totally satisfied there are a couple of things I would like to ask you, I want to be able to keep my dialing and calling functions while driving, it keeps taking them away other than the contacts shortcut I made. Also is there a way to bypass whatever it is that stops the viewing of movies while driving, not that I would or want to watch while driving as I know that is dangerous and Illegal, but just for the "show" factor to have the ability, I would greatly appreciate any information and/or assistance you could provide, Thank You LvnInOC

Homeboy77
I don't notice the fan sound on my 140. I had the Kenwood DNX9140. Talk about slow boot. This does not appear to be that bad. Faster would always be better, but definitely better than my old hu. I can see my camera in reverse while the unit is booting. That is awesome, since my Kenwood had to boot complete to show that screen. When you switch from one source-to reverse camera, it always reverts back to that original source. It even plays music while viewing camera. My Kenwood didn't do that. After getting out of reverse, I would have to manually choose a source. (Probably not wired or configured correctly). Anyway, I love my new 140. Lots more to learn on it though.

Ibanezwizz
Just do the bypass. Boot time is a bit slow, agreed but my radio starts playing within 3 seconds whilst unit is booting which is ok. I agree on customisation. Crap. Cant hear my fans, my exhaust is too loud. One more thing, there is some hissing and noise in speakers when volume is at 10 and ipod on pause. They should mute the audio output when you pause things.
stargate125645
I imagine the voice response is still sluggish, and Apple still has nerfed voice recognition and album art on on Apple products? Those are my main sources of strife with the prior model. Perhaps you have a bad head unit? I wouldn't think the fan control would differ much from previous models.
