dakranii
I've been reading the forums most of the day trying to figure all that I need to know. I wish it all just worked out of the box, it's unfortunate that things need to be modded to provide full functionality. In any case, I'm looking to put this into an 03 Pontiac Vibe. I've located the kit I need for my model and the wiring harness I'd need for the install. But I want to get it straight in my head what is going on with the bypass and updates, and bluetooth updates, etc, and on and on. I was looking to buy from here: http://www.theelectronicdealers.com/PioneerAVIC-Z1.html The store looks legit... I want bluetooth capability, so I'd need to get the bluetooth adapter. I'm thinking about satellite radio, so I'd need the sirius/xm adapter. I think that's all. Now, about this bypass. If the unit is built after july 06, I will need the 07/06 bypass? But what's the deal with the bluetooth update? I thought it seemed like some were saying that if it's built after july 06 and has the update I won't need a bypass? That doesn't seem right. Also, I use my parking brake. So when I install the bypass, I just leave the parking brake (green) line unconnected? I'm assuming once I have the unit and the bypass and the instructions, it will all make more sense, but I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need. Sorry...between shopping for a good price, trying to figure out what I'll need for my car model, and what I'll need to do to get full functionality of the unit, my mind is having a hard time wrapping around everything at the moment. Cincycaddy
Ducatiboy on here has/was selling bypasses for the Z1. After the 07/06production date, a bypass "module" wasn't needed. You merely had to ground the parking break wire and insert a pin in one of the harnesses and ground it. The bluetooth update was for units prior to the 07/06 production. With the update the old bypass module wasn't needed. So a 07/06 model and a pre 07/06 model with Bluetooth update are essentially the same. Chris
dakranii
Okay...so more than likely, any z1 I pick up at a retail outlet will not need the bypass, but rather this other method (assuming retail outlets will be stocking post 07/06 units). I'm assuming this is detailed in another thread on the site. I'll do a search for instructions. Thank you.
Rodge
Although I couldn't find much info on "theelectronicdealers.com" I wouldn't reccomend buying from anyone who is selling it for $100 less than the wholesale cost. Although it seems like a great cost, Chances are this place is BS, and I know that we've found a hundred other places that are BS, and they all looked EXACTLY like that site. Be careful before you buy.... Don't be afraid to spend the extra buck to know what you are paying for

dakranii
I've done searches for http://www.theelectronicdealers.com, electronicdealers.com, theelectronicdealers.com, electronicdealers, the electronic dealers and none are showing me specifically that thread. Most are coming back with results of 300 or more. Do you have the specific link? I'll keep searching for it.

Rodge
wow, I almost forgot how bad we tore up that website..... "theelectronicdealers.com" I am a new member and all, but it's funny to me how much information gets circulated over and over again. I'm not complaining, just noticing. I'm sure I'll have some "repeated" questions when I start installing some new parts, but it definately helped joining the site A little while before I actually have to do any work. I've learned more just watching all you guys talk than I have asking questions.... thanks dudes

larrydltech
We purchased $1400 worth of stuff from them and never received a thing from them. We are still trying to get our money from our credit card company. If you call there contact number it says there mailbox is full. Probably full of complaints.
