Truth
It gradually started freezing. I would just turn off the car and turn it back on and it would work. Now its permanatly frozen at the Pioneer start up screen. I get sound but cannot see anything other than that screen and the buttons do not work.
mxholden
I've had the same problem. I just shipped my Z-1 to pioneer for the second time for this same problem. When pioneer returned my unit the first time they did not indicate what the problem was. I have seen a few posts from people having this problems...
Truth
The problem with doing this is that I paid for instillation already. I would have to remove the unit ship it out, wait for repair. Then have to pay to have it installed again? . This is ridiculous. For 1800 dollars this thing should be flawless! tillithz
yep it is crazy, but do you really know whos to blame? also, why the heck did you pay $1800 for it, thats is crazy!. also if i had to guess, i would think the hard drive is crapping or crapped out now. cntrylvr79
What's so crazy about 1800 bucks for a z1. When we could get them I put in at least a dozen for customers who paid 2299.99. Yup that's right MSRP plus $99.99. People paid and were happy.

Truth
I got it 5 months ago. At the time 1800 with no tax was a good deal. Even now I hardly see them selling for less than that. So why would the harddrive just go out all of a sudden? I read some people sayin it is a heat issue? I have a G35 i'm thinking it has something to do with not getting enough ventillation in the back? I used to have the unit in my other car which was an Altima and never had a problem in there.

I used to have the unit in my other car which was an Altima and never had a problem in there. If you go back and read a lot of my posts, this has been my biggest problem with the Z-1. To be honest, I don't know what it is, heat, hard drive, etc. What I DO know is that during times when it is not really hot or cold, it works. When it gets really cold or really hot, it exhibits the same problem you're having. So, I can only assume that this is a temperature related issue. Maybe there is a circuit built onto the main board that inhibits the Z-1 from starting. Maybe on some, the hard drive platter has a little more "slop", I dunno.
