AVH-P8400BH - Bluetooth no longer working since update.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new here, just signed up last night,

I was looking at some topic discussions here about some newer headunits and bluetooth is no longer working after attempting the new firmware update that was released at the end of last month.

I went ahead and connected my MAC to VIA bluetooth and uploaded the file with no problems and the headunit said complete when i finished all of the steps. However once it was finished my bluetooth no longer works and gives me an error-10. I guess it's possible that the memory chip that stores the firmware is faulty, but is highly unlikely. I went ahead and restored the unit using the reset pin on the front, as well as disconnecting the headunit from any power source at all, but this did not help. I was hoping that someone here knows a bit more about this stuff and could elaborate on some more ideas.

I was able to retrieve a copy of the service manual and was wondering if the supertestmode would be compatible with my headunit. Maybe test mode could help me update the firmware again?

Anyway I am open to ideas!

Thanks,

Justin

This is a response I got from Pioneer regarding the BT upgrade failure:

Mr. Clutch,

The instructions for the firmware process are very specific and must be
follow precisely. If any part of the update instructions are not followed,
it will cause failure. Hence, it is not covered, since it is not a
manufacturing defect.

Please send your unit to us at the address listed below:

PIONEER ELECTRONICS
ATTN: ARA 16312704
1925 E DOMINGUEZ ST
LONG BEACH, CA 90810

Once received, we will evaluate the unit. If the $95.00 fee applies, we
will contact you.

Thanks again,
