aznsmartass24
hook up the illumination wire. Its a wire that will give 12Volts when your lights are on, and 0 volts when it is off
iheartxgatas
could the fact that i have daytime running lights be the reason that the night mode doesnt come on?
ducatiboy
If daytime running lights were a "problem" I would assume that your vehicle would constantly be in "night mode". If you daytime lights are always on, and you hooked up to the signal for that instead of the general ill wire for your car, it would be dark all the time. You need to find the ILL wire for your vehicle. I don't know it, maybe one of the wire guru's here would be able to point you to where one exists in your car. If you hook the ILL wire (or input for my circuit) to something that goes to 12V it should switch to night mode. Do you have a volt meter handy? Can you check what you have it hooked to? If it's one of my circuits it's not out of the realm of possibilities that it could be bad. Are you sure it's hooked up to a 12V at night and 0V day (with daytime running lights do you still have a headlight switch)?
cntrylvr79
Assuming that the car you have is the one in the picture. There is no illumination wire behind the radio. you'll have to go to the headlight switch and run a wire over the the radio. Just to be certain what year make model is the car. iheartgatas
its an '06 vw gti. its really no big deal, im already used to the whole thing, just wondering whats going on.
cntrylvr79
You'll have to run a wire from the gray/yellow wire at the headlight switch to the orange/white wire in the z1 harness. That'll give you the nightmode.
