Using UK DA100 firmware to bypass USA DA100

Recommended Posts

After doing some reading, I have realized that the UK version of the DA100 AppRadio2 is bypassed by grounding the parking break wire. I am wondering if downloading the UK firmware update will allow me to gain this functionality?

Has anyone tried this?

Also on the US site you can no longer access the 8.17 update, and you can on the UK site, Im not wanting to upgrade to 8.30 until the issues are sorted out.

EDIT- for some reason I cannot get any flash drives to recognize, I tried three different ones, formatted to fat and fat32. Ive tried north american firmware 8.30 and EU 8.17, 8.30 and everytime my da100 tells me that it can't read up sofware up file.

Any ideas or help is appreciated

Why don't you just install this? (works great for me)

Parking Brake Override Bypass Fully Automatic Video in Motion Pioneer Custom for AppRadio

You can't read any Flash Drives via USB on the AppRadio.   You can only hookup an iPod/iPhone/Android device

You can burn DVD's full of mp3/aac audio files to play if you have the new AppRadio 3 (SPH-DA210 DVD model)  That's about it.

AppRadio was centered around doing it all through  your Smart Phone.

As stated elsewhere on this forum, you will loose Pandora feature if you flash with EU firmware. Seems unwise to me especially when there is a functioning bypass.

"what i did was i bought a toggle switch and some wire clamps. I had one wire from the toggle switch clamped to the ground wire and another wire clamped to the power source and mounted the toggle switch.

works 100% fine"

I had a relay wired up before that worked, but was interested in testing the european firmware. For everyone's information I got it to work. I got a different flash drive, slow formatted it to FAT not FAT32 and it took the 8.17 update no problem. Radio works fine, bypass works and the Pandora App is still there, I havent tested it because it doesnt work in Canada. The icon is there and when I press it I am told to start the app on my phone.
