VBLUE42
Guys I owe you an apology. Pioneer will not have the full features like Alpine and Kenwood. 2014 NEX models – AVIC-8000NEX, AVIC-7000NEX, AVIC-6000NEX, AVIC-5000NEX, AVH-4000NEX. These units will be compatible with all of our solutions to retain factory systems (except our Mustang dash kit), but they do not have gauges, climate control (this is why you can’t use the MUS1), vehicle info or parking assist screens. Brian Murphy And how do you know this? How do you know that Pioneer can't add these features with a firmware update.
VBLUE42
Rant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d72QKIc1EwI Sadly these kinds of disappoints are nothing new for Pioneer. They have disappointed many in this way with nearly every head unit they have released. I actually warned everyone on this site months ago as the hype was building that this might happen. CuznVinny
Per your complaints on the navi, have you selected "Text to Speech" in the navi settings? you are correct, I did find the TTS voice and now it announces street names. I have corrected the vid
GHII
And how do you know this? How do you know that Pioneer can't add these features with a firmware update. He works at ADS, which is the company who makes idatalink, and they test all different units that want to be idatalink compatible so they would know what is and isn't going to work. Pioneer would have to be working closely with them if these features were going to be implemented, and according to ADS, that's not happening or going to happen. I feel like Pioneer owes me a refund, I've already had to pay over a $100 restocking fee for my 7000 because of Pioneers lack of 8000 info..Now I have a 8000 I have to get rid of so I can get the new 9" Alpine that actually provides these features. Iammurph
I can't speak to why they did not have gauges in the first release of their product. That was their decision and not ours. When their firmware update is ready they will cover integration like Sync, Onstar and U Connect.
VBLUE42
So does that mean to you that it could still happen.
CuznVinny
retaining my Sync its the one thing I wouldn't have cared if it kept. i really bugs me that the fad today is just release a product before its ready and "hey we'll fix it in a few weeks or months with a firmware update". I don't remember getting a discount or compensation for being a beta tester. We payed top dollar to get these units when there released and they roll out missing features. Iammurph
So does that mean to you that it could still happen. No, the generation one radios will not have gauges.
tekki
How did you change your background to look like fire, I can't figure that out, I have two floating balls of light, would like to see what other options there are
VBLUE42
No, the generation one radios will not have gauges. So why is that? Is there a hardware limitation? I ask because if the hardware is there, why could they not implement this through a firmware update? Especially sense they have claimed they will support this.
drenyce311
How did you change your background to look like fire, I can't figure that out, I have two floating balls of light, would like to see what other options there are go to settings, background, select AV instead of HOME and scroll through the background pics. it should be the 1st animation. I like the EQ better

It is a feature that they chose not to support.
camar0rs
well I guess its good I am not putting this into a car that has these additional features
Kstryker
I have been in talk with ADS (They are a Canadian based company) engineer and after purchasing the iDatalink Maestro and CHR02 adapter specific to my car (2007 Dodge Charger R/T) the shop was not able to install. Ended up going with the standard PAC harness. They (ADS) are very quick to assist and while at the shop, they created 3 firmware updates on the fly to try and resolve my issue. But they were unable to resolve it. Here is a few excerpts... Will pass along your comments and contact you again when we have softwarefor you to use. Regarding the radio, I am not sure what OBDC (I meant OBD2) is, but we use a connection tothe OBD2 connector to implement the gauges and check engine code reading. The 2013/2014 Kenwood DNX and DNN models all have this integrated already. In your car, we don't know what gauges would be supported (but there will besome) and likely we are not able to read your tire pressures if you evenhave a Tire Pressure Monitoring System at all. We can also read and resetcheck engine codes and detect open doors (on Vehicle info screen). The Alpine 7,8 and 9 inch navigation radios for 2014 (shipping May/June)will also have these features. We try to be as proactive as we can with consumers, but at the same time, wehave an obligation to present our partner's products as favorably as we can.We are thrilled to have a partnership with Pioneer and I am sure over timethey will have all the features implemented. Best regards,Mark -------------- -------------- Hi Patrick, Got your email. See my comments below. Also, you need to be 100% clear about what the Pioneer radio will do/not do. The digital firmware for the NEX radios is not available yet. So, when you flash the MRR for your car and NEX radio, you will get the AS firmware. This firmware will let you retain and configure your steering wheel controls (if you have them), turn on the amp (when it is fixed), and provide all the outputs you need to wire up the radio (accessory, reverse wire, etc). When the DS firmware update from Pioneer is available (will require you to download onto USB and update the radio) you can reflash the MRR and you will get DS solution. This solution will add: Ability to fade the factory amplifier Ability to retain uConnect (if you have it/want to do so) It will not add any of the other things you seemed excited about. Pioneer does not plan to add screens to the 2014 NEX radios for: - Gauges - Vehicle info (tire pressure, open doors, read/reset check engine light) - Visual parking assist (if car equipped with ultrasonic parking sensors) - Climate Control (not applicable in your vehicle) Pioneer may support these features next year, but likely only in the new model radios. It's a major undertaking to add these features so the entire radio software might need to be re-written. I am not sure if this helps, but you need to know the scoop. Best, Mark ------------
starkey
Dose pioneer know about this fourm? If so, Why haven't they chimed in to set the record straight? I have the 8000 and this was one the features along with a couple more that's not working that cought my interest in spend the type of money I did for this unit. I have been a pioneer fan for a long time and I am very disappointed with them at this point.
