Which models support HDMI?

Recommended Posts

You will need apple a/v adapter(about 50.00) and hdmi cable. Dont purchase the pioneer kit, it is only an expensive hdmi cable. You might want to consider the 4000nex(7" screen without navi) or 7000nex(7" screen). I say this because of the 7" screen, and navi apps on iphone are pretty awesome. Plus, the screen is detachable on 4000, and you get remote control. The 6000 only has detachable plate that has button controls on it, and no remote control. I have 4000nex and could not be happier

the 7000 is going to be out of my price range.   i can assume the the 4000 won't use waze either?

would love to have a comparison of all the models if possible?

The 4000 is the 7000 without Navigation. It will do what all the others will do. Same inputs, outputs etc. Since you were were going to use it for movies, the bigger screen is nice. I have mine setup as a media center, that is i have 480gb solid state hard drive plugged into usb2(with 200+ ripped dvds, 20000+ songs in mp3, 1600 songs in FLAC(lossless format), 32gb sd card with my favorite songs in mp3, I also have a digital tv tuner hooked up to A/V input, rear view camera, SiriusXM, and i opted for the AVIC-U260 nav addon(not really needed with good navi apps), and usb1 and hdmi is reserved for iphone6. I have 7" screens on my headrests for my two and four year old girls. I dont use carplay at the moment, because there are just not enough apps available. I can confirm that programs like youtube will play on hdmi on the unit, i tried maxgo and played perfectly on the screen, when you run the app, it mirrors the phone, that is, it is in vertical mode, but when the movie plays it is in horizontal mode, when i started browser, i had to turn the phone horizontally and then it filled the screen. Good luck on your choice, i dont think you will be disappointed in whichever you choose. And this forum is full of great info, when you need it. Alot of us have been thru the trial and error phase, and are more than willing to lend a hand.

so with the AVIC-U260 nav it would still make a nav app like waze work?  If i didn't have the AVIC-U260 nav would waze work with my phone hooked up via the built in app?  What I'm trying to avoid is using waze on my phone/ipad because then i still have to use my phone to tag police/wrecks/etc and i would rather use the 4000's touch screen..   I hope this make sense?

I watch my Slingbox via HDMI on my 8000 and it works great!

using your iPhone?  does it use up all the screen or does it have a black bar around the picture?  i use sling via dish network and when i plug my iPhone into a tv with the apple connector it won't run at full screen, an iPad will run at full screen..  its weird

AVIC-u260 is only a nav addon, making it like the 7000. It is a 350.00 addon. Any app like waze, still operates on phone, but you can use head unit touchscreen to comunicate with app. Waze only works this way, using appradio.
