F960DAB (UK/Europe) Bypass

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've read the massive bypass thread but all the instructions (and the masses of videos on YouTube) relate to a "mute wire" which is part of the main wiring harness. My F960DAB (UK purchased) has its mute wire as part of the head unit itself, along with a number of female phono sockets as opposed to part of the wiring harness of the US and/or older models.

Is there a bypass for this particular model or am I stuck with having to disassemble the car to find the parking brake signal cable?

I have read elsewhere that simply grounding the parking brake signal cable on the wiring harness might be enough but that seems to go against what is said on these forums - I guess that could be down to differences between US and UK machines but I dunno.

I am at your mercy!

Jonathan.

Mmmm - with some assistance from my father-in-law (who's an electrician) I got the HU installed today but it is showing characteristics of not being grounded properly and/or this workaround not working.

There was a message that came up but the wife dismissed it so I've no idea what exactly is said but it was something about a pulse speed indicator. Also, a lot of the menus (e.g. "Firmware Update") were greyed out until I did a cold boot (power off/key out, power on to ACC). If I started the engine and tried to amend these settings, they were greyed out.

I'll take the unit out again tomorrow and have another go - the remote control interface isn't working either so probably need to go over things again.

Thanks Kura.
