CarPlay and Iphone mirroring

Its so annoying that Apple and pioneer can't get together and make it so you can do everything on one connection. 

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but 

Currently, you have to connect via the thunderbolt and HDMI adapter to get iPhone mirroring and stream video from your phone to the 8000nex. CBut wile your connected with the adapter, CarPlay doesn't work..

 

Has anyone come up with a way to do both either thru the adapter or direct connection thru thunderbolt??

 

My thunderbolt/hdmi adapter is intermittent thanks to the stress of moving the phone around while its connected.. must be a better way..

Unfortunately, we are stuck, since the a/v adapter uses the lightning to USB cable for charging only, that rules out carplay. Since Apple doesn't allow video thru lightning cable, rules out streaming or video apps. It would be so nice to plug in phone and be able to run all apps from head unit.

Hey. But the HDMI mirroring was not affected in any way by the new firmware update then?

Airplay and Carplay do not work together.  I have an Apple TV 3 plugged into the HDMI port and when I enable Airplay, it does not work.  It just returns to the Carplay screen.
