bwthomas77
Hello group, I am replacing the radio in my 2012 Tacoma with a 8000NEX. I ordered a Maestro SW but was perplexed when it did not have the data connection to mate with the 8000NEX HU. A little more investigating and I figured out the difference. I have read through posts on this site and the idatalink website. Per the website I'm not even sure the RR is compatible with the 8000NEX on the Tacoma. Anyone have any advice on this? I have the SW in hand. I actually had a PAC on the radio that was there before. I am probably going to stick with the SW unless there is some major selling points presently (or future firmware updates) that would suggest I "have to" get the RR. Thanks. jhren
There are a few OEM features the RR will interface that the SW won't. What features are dependent on vehicle. According to iDataLink site, it doesn't show any compatibility between the RR, 2012 Tacoma, and any Pioneer HU. For the SW, it shows: STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS Two Functions on Each Button Standard Radio Functions
RAVpioneer
According to iDatalink support, Pioneer does not support the gauges functions, so you cannot use the RR with the Pioneer NEX units, you need to use the SW. I purchased the SW and it is working great with an 8100NEX in a 2012 Toyota Rav4.
