Colin83
I know this has probably been discussed a hundred different times on this forum before, but I waswondering if someone could list out all the additional cables I'll need to purchase to have full functionality of my unit. I'm brand new to the forum and I'm not sure how to navigate it - so I apologize. Also, I have a Avic-X920BT already installed in my current vehicle. Will I need to purchase a new XM tuner for the new unit (8000NEX) in order to receive XM or will my current tuner work ? Thanks in advance !

Colin83
Come on people. I know how to read a manual and I have read it. I'm just confused and I still don't understand exactly what I need which is why I'm here. I'm assuming I need : -CD-IU52 -CD-IU201S -Lightning Digital AV Adapter Is this correct or am I missing something ?
joemamma1954
Depends on what you are wanting to use as inputs. If using an iPhone, for example, and you just want CarPlay, then only lightning to usb cable hooked up to usb1, is all that you would need. If you want to use AppRadio mode, then you will need Apple Digital A/V Adapter and a hdmi cable and lightning to usb cable(for charging only) If you plan on using a thumbnail drive, or solid state drive on usb2, then I would purchase an extra usb extension cable and run to glove box or something.(the unit comes with one extension, but you do not want to have to remove head unit to change devices hooked up to usb ports. If you are going to hook up other input like a digital tv tuner, then all you would need is rca cables hooked up to the A/V input. So fully functional could mean a lot of things. I have nav addon, digital tv tuner, siriusxm, SDCard slot, hdmi input, and both usb inputs being used. the only input i do not use is aux, but have the cable in the input with rca leads in glove compartment for video camera on dash when i want to use it. Just remember, it is either CarPlay or Appradio mode(you cannot switch these two modes without switching cables and switching smartphone inputs in the settings)
joemamma1954
Also don't purchase the pioneer kit for hdmi hookup, all you need is good hdmi cable. their kit only uses the hdmi cable for our nex units, so why spend 50+ dollars on their kit when all you need is hdmi cable. Colin83
Thank you, Joe - for taking the time to respond to my question. Can I use this instead of 'lightning to usb cable' (CD-IU52) http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD819ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-cable-2-m (For the extra length) ?
jhren
AFAIK, there is nothing special about any Pioneer accessory cables for the NEX units.
Colin83
Thank you. The reason I asked is because my case for my iPhone 6 has too small of an opening for the charging port for most lightning cables and that particular one fits.
joemamma1954
AFAIK, there is nothing special about any Pioneer accessory cables for the NEX units.I agree, I would stay away from the cheap lightning cable, they tend to work for a short time. Amazon sells some good ones and some crappy ones.
beedow
My installer insisted on using the Pioneer HDMI cable, said that he wouldn't guarantee the work if he used anything else. The Pioneer cable is really cheap quality and developed a short in it within 3 weeks. It's gotten really bad now and AppRadio won't work. Can anyone recommend a good HDMI cable? I'm going to go back to my installer and make him put in a decent one.
