CiD
Hey all, Just installed my AVIC-D3 Though I recently ran into a snag... My XM doesn't work at all... The Unit does not detect it what so ever... (XM grayed out) I am speculating that the D3 is totally incompatible with the XM Direct adapter and that Pioneer is pretty much forcing you to use their own XM Radio unit.. Wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue... I have sourced out a Pioneer XM Radio Deck but I want to make sure my speculation is correct... CiD
whtcrxghst
The Terk units are always junk when used with Pioneer navi products. Its the same price for the Pioneer one, and it comes with P-bus in and out so I would suggest getting that
PaisanNYC
Terk has made crap products for years. Always best to go with products made by the same company. Look into getting the GEX-P20XM, unless you want NavTraffic, you could spend a few more bucks and get the GEX-P10XMT.
CiD
Thanks for the input! I'll probably gonna get the GEX-P920XM as Canada doesn't have navtraffic yet... which totally blows... CiD
T
Pioneer is pretty much forcing you to use their own XM Radio unit.. CiD terk asked Pioneer to use there IP bus translation. Pioneer said no and Terk went and backwards engineered it. So sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. not to mention that the both cost the same amount of money so what is the issue? CiD
Well i had the xm direct before because my previous deck only uses terk for connectivity. I got the pioneer adapter from a buddy and it wouldn't even detect it.. So i wanted to make sure before i switch to the pioneer model that if anyone had this issue with the D3... Since i am impatient and hearing from the forums the terk is a piece of @#*($ which i have to agree... I got the Pioneer xm radio and everything works fine now... So i guess for future reference.. Terk will not work at all with the D3.. and sketchy with the other avics.. CiD
