maddmike
Thanks for providing all of the great pictures; install looks great! You mentioned in your Cons section that: 'Select iPod videos through iPod itself and not directly through headunit'. This is the first I'm hearing about this...you cannot browse your iPod videos via the Avic-D3? Brent on the d3 there is a great ipod interface for music, if you want to see pictures or video on the screen you have to use the ipod itself but for music its a great interface and much faster then many of the other ones out there
xmx250
i'm about to install my D3 today. Did you t-tap the ground for the mute wire? what wire did you tap into. Is this a safe method of grounding?
tunesmich
You don't ground a wire by tapping into another wire. It has to be connected to metal. Find a screw or bolt to wrap it around and tighten.

Then select the video through iPod. Only controls you have on HU is stop,forward/back. There is a music button on there to switch back to music
ETAFOYA87
I HAVE AN 06 TC AND I JUST ORDERED THE D3, DO I NEED TO GET A WIRING HARNESS? DO I NEED TO GET THE PIONEER IPOD DIRECT WIRE OR CAN I USE THE ONE MY SCION ALREADY HAS? DO I NEED TO GET ANYTHING SPECIAL IN ORDER TO USE THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS? I JUST ORDERED THE HEAD UNIT, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I WOULD NEED TO BUY, THAT DOESN'T COME IN THE BOX, IN ORDER TO INSTALL AND BE READY FOR USE.

You can not use the scion ipod directipod cable as it's completely different to the d3's. As for steering wheel controls, you will need to order the Pac-Swi-PS. Turn caps lock off also
drft84
where's the vss wire located at on the scion tc?
Phanon_TC
where's the vss wire located at on the scion tc? For my 06 .. i found the easiest location was using the HVAC controls. Tap into the orange wire pin 14th from the left looking at it from the top.
BehaveDave
phanon, are you running your stock speakers w/ the d3? how do they sound?
Layd Dly
Mine is going into an 07 tC my only gripe will be the steering wheel controls since ive grown accustomed to having them. i hope the PAC unit works ok. Anyone use one on a tC?
Phanon_TC
yeah im running stock and sound much better than what stock head unit. and I am using PAC SWI PS with mine. It works fine but pressing the buttons doesn't instantly respond. Seems like you gotta hold the button a second for it to respond.
