xmx250
I'm installing my D3 at this very moment. But i have a problem! I used the ground on the metra harness to ground the HU itself. However i dont know where to ground the parking brake and the mute! Sounds stupid but i'm a newb to this. Theres a few metal bars behind the dash but i dont know if they are "grounds". Car is a 07 Civic Si, can someone help me out BTW those metal bars seem really thin and just look like supports for HU or whatever.......
xmx250
anyone? how can i tell if something is a real ground?????????? I have my dash torn apart right now so i gotta get this done soon.
Ricochet
why not just ground everything on the wiring harness?
bmuhlfeld
good point
Ricochet
i did mine that way and it works fine, infact all my decks i did that way. the damn trim is my problem right now..lol
xmx250
so its okay to ground everyhting to the wire harness??????? I thought that was the "crappy" way of doing it. I guess i probably will cause i cant see a certain spot that i know for sure is a "ground". In addition to the HU i'm grounding the parking brake and the mute.
stathound
yea what i do is cut the ground wire at different places then twist the wires all into one. then screw the end into the metal. as long as everything is ground on that wire you'll be fine.
xmx250
^^^^^^^^^^ will that same method of tying all the wires into one ground work if i'm still connecting it to the ground on the metra, instead of the ground on bare metal???????
brandon
^^^^^^^^^^ will that same method of tying all the wires into one ground work if i'm still connecting it to the ground on the metra, instead of the ground on bare metal??????? I would think a chassis ground would be a better choice.
cntrylvr79
as long as theres no resistance difference between the metal and the ground wire in the harness you'll be fine.
