D3 Night/Day display Test

I was wondering if someone with a D3 and there illumination wire hooked up could turn on their lights, and tell me if you can switch from the screen back and forth from DAY/NIGHT on the Nav map screen?

 

Reason is I do not have access to illum wire, and am thinking of just sending it +12v(lights always on) and if I can manually switch the screens than I am fine.

I would also like to manually control it......therefore i would hook the orange / White wire to where........??????????????????????????

To rig an avic for manual control of the day/night switch, you'll need a single pole single throw toggle switch. then you hook one pin of the switch to the illumination wire of the avic and the other pin of the switch to the red wire in the avic's harness. Turn the switch on to switch to night mode and off for day mode.

Yeah any 12 volt source will send it to night mode if you apply it to that pin. You need to install some sort of switch though that switches from ground to 12volts.

It doesn't have to go from ground to 12 volts. Just nothing to +12volts.
