Need help hooking up bluetooth steering wheel controls to Z1

Recommended Posts

I just installed the OEM phone buttons and voice command button on the steering wheel of my 06 4Runner. I am using the PAC SWI-PS to interface the Z1 with the audio buttons on the steering wheel. Does anyone have an idea on what to use to interface the Z1 with the phone buttons to make them work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you want to use OEM phone buttons to access phone functions on the Z1? Cause I'm pretty sure that's not possible. You can re-map them to radio play functions.

The functions available with the SWI-PS is on page 5 of this:

Or

Do you want to use a pioneer remote to access phone functions? That's possible. You can use something like this:

I don't remember if that's the Z1 specific model, but there is one that looks just like that with phone buttons on it, you can use those.

I'm sure there is a signal that the Z1 would accept for those phone operations, but the PAC SWI-PS isn't programmed to send them to the Z1. So until PAC updates their SWI-PS (or both Pioneer and PAC update their systems) what you want is not possible. Sorry.

Unless someone knows a different steering wheel interface... but I have only seen the PAC one.
