R197 on top of the circuit board?

Recommended Posts

Here is the issue. Took my avic-n2 over to a friends to get soldered, he melted the pins off, and now I have an oval wax scab where the pins use to be.

The Avic still works, question is this: I took the unit apart, it does not seem that those pins went all the way through the circuit board. Does anyone know if you can solder a connection on the top of the board to complete the bypass?

I am thinking I am pretty much SOL, and will have to now operate the unit the "legal" way. After much reading I understand that I could put a toggle on the GPS antenna and ground the parking brake wire if I wanted to watch a DVD/TV while driving, but that seems like a pain and that function is not that appealing to me anyway. The big issue was the lockout over 12MPH to re-route the GPS.

Well any suggestions will be appreciated. I should have just soldered it myself, live and learn :/

P.S. - The Stock Avic still rocks anyway! :)
